7月4日,我院邀请美国辛辛那提大学(University of Cincinnati)Heng WEI(魏恒)教授开展以“Expert-AI-Interactive Traffic Crash Causal Analytics: From Surface Patterns to Underlying Logic”为主题的讲座。讲座由学院副院长雷斌主持,学院师生到场参会交流。

讲座中,魏恒教授聚焦 AI 与机器学习在交通安全领域的应用展开分享。他提出从业者应树立“交通医生”的研究定位,依托大量实测交通数据阐释事故二八分布特征:海量事故样本里,普通轻微事故占八成,造成人员伤亡的高危事故仅占两成。他指出随机森林(random forest)等常规机器学习模型受样本失衡影响,会自动弱化占比稀少的伤亡事故,难以深度挖掘这类重大事故的深层诱因。针对该研究痛点,他介绍 GAN 合成数据、SHAP 特征归因、故障树根因拆解等分析手段,倡导融合传统安全理论与智能算法开展研究。此外,他客观剖析了大模型存在逻辑幻觉、数据源污染等问题,强调科研要保持独立思考,不可过度依赖 AI,并分享了严谨规范的学术研究与论文写作思路。

【专家简介】
Dr. Heng Wei is a Professor of Transportation Systems and Engineering, Founding Director of the ART-EngineS Laboratory at The University of Cincinnati. He is a Fellow of ASCE. Dr. Wei has secured a great number of research grants from Ohio DOT, Federal Highway Administration, National Science Foundation, US Environmental Protection Agency, USDOT University Transportation Centers, and industrial sector. His research has resulted in over 256 peer-reviewed and referred papers, and 22 books or chapters. He is the lead editor of the book, “Disruptive Emerging Transportation Technologies” published by ASCE in 2022. He has received 35 professional awards/honors for his outstanding research and education achievements including ASCE Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award and several best paper awards by TRB/UTCs/ transportation journals. He has been the Editor of the ASCE ICTD Proceedings from 2022 through 2026 (8 volumes in total). He was Publication Chair of the IEEE ITSC 2012, guest editor for journal of Transportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives, journal of Vehicle, and a member of TRB TRR editorial board. He is currently serving as the Chair of ASCE T&DI Emerging Technologies Council. He was the 9th COTA president. He has also served on the Panels for 1) NCHRP 25-75: Simplified Methodology for Risk-Based Air Quality Assessments of NEPA Alternatives, 2) NCHRP 08-189: Transportation Systems Management and Operations Strategy Effectiveness Clearinghouse, 3) NCHRP 03-152: Integrating the Use of New Software Subsystems and Software within Evolving Traffic Management Systems, and 4) NCHRP Synthesis on Ancillary Asset Data Stewardship and Data Models (SN5406).
